Parties and Good Choices.......

I started my Saturday morning off with coffee, the couch, the DVR and the dogs......oh, and I ate a banana.

I knew I would choose my food carefully throughout the day, because there was a party Saturday Night, and I was gonna have me some fun!

Apparently I drank plenty of water during Happy Hour Friday Night, and was smart about my vodka quantity, because I woke up feeling great!

Oh....and the fact that NO Hookah pipe appeared, although there was a small suggestion of it, probably helped too!

The dogs and I headed out for a good long walk, and it actually felt HOT outside on this 1st of December! So weird.....

Around noon, I decided I needed to eat....

Tortilla (2) and some cheese (2)........




Egg whites (1) and a Tablespoon of bacon bits (1).......




All nicely rolled up!

Seriously, even when eating alone, presentation is important people!

Keeping the party in mind, I was being careful during the day about not snacking. My big protein breakfast was nicely doing its job of keeping me feeling full.

After my snack of fruit/yogurt/veggie snack......

........we went to some friends to chit chat and have a drink before the party. I had decided that vodka thing went pretty well the night before, and I did like the way my flavored vodka taste. The trick for me here is figuring how much vodka I can drink. I know my beer limit. I've been drinking it long enough, I'm very familiar with it. I have figured out my wine limit, and lately, that seems to give me a headache no matter how little or how much I drink. But the vodka thing is tricky because I'm not really a sipper, but I'm learning. Drinking water in between each vodka drink is helpful!

We had a drink and snacked on almonds (yum!) and wasabi peas! (Gross!) I had to spit mine out! I don't even know why I tasted them. I was pretty sure I had tasted them before, and I wasn't a fan. (go with your gut Julie, what were you thinking?)

At the party, I really wasn't hungry, but since I was on my third vodka drink (Orange Stoli, Diet Tonic Water, Orange Slices), I decided I needed to eat something.

I had a great time at the party! It was a going away party for some friends of ours that are moving to South Africa for 2 1/2 years! I know! Crazy, right? They will be moving with their three kids right around the first of the year. I think it sounds like an amazing opportunity for the whole family and I can't wait to hear some of the first stories of life in South Africa!

  1. Wowza! I can't imagine what it takes to pack up and move to South Africa!! Looks like you had a smart eating day. I love having bagged vegt. in the freeze. I wrote down that variety to try. I still struggle to get in my veggies!
