Focus on the Power foods

Weight watchers really focuses on power foods. Mostly that includes fruits and vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, skim milk and non-fat yogurts. I do know that when I plan and work those in each day, I am much more successful at the scale.

Today is Super Bowl Sunday and I know we are going to friends, but I have no idea what snacks will be lurking around while I am there, so I'm trying to save most points for the evening.

Here's today's lunch, and the entire bag Is 3 PPV.

Are you kidding me right now?

Holy.....moly......macramoly.......check this out!

30 seconds in the microwave and you have THIS!

4 PPV of chocolate, gooey brownie topped with peanut butter!

After watching the rest of the family eat bacon and pancakes at my mom's this morning, I came home craving something sweet and cakey! Well, there you have it! Snack perfection!

These Vita Muffins come in several different flavors, but the chocolate is my favorite. These little babies are packed with NINE grams of fiber and FOUR grams of protein. IN A BROWNIE! They are 100 calories and only 1.5 fat grams! EAT UP!

Sunday at Mom's

I am headed over to my Mom's for breakfast and coffee, but I've made an executive decision......to just have coffee. My husband and I are headed to Florida in a few days, and I am really trying to be on my best Weight Watcher's behavior.
Mom wants a big breakfast of pancakes and bacon, (she's 4'8" and weighs 75 pounds). If I weren't so much like her, I'd SWEAR I was adopted! I opted to eat at home! Then I'll go over and watch them eat their feast!

Today I made a filling 5 PPV breakfast burrito so I shouldn't even be tempted when I get there. I used 4 egg whites, turkey sausage, a cheese wedge and a high fiber whole wheat tortilla. Added an orange and a kiwi to really bulk up my plate.

Now headed to Mom's to get all caught up on the family drama!

White chili? Yep!

I love this stuff, and so does the hubby! This was perfect for a CHILI (get it? Chili? It's cold outside? I crack myself up sometimes.) and rainy Saturday night in, spent on the couch watching the Kansas/Missouri game. I try to make most things without the seasoning packets anymore, but I really like this one, and when I'm in the mood for it, I hate to try and make my own for fear it won't taste as good. Okay, next time I will give it a go from scratch.

Anyhow, I use one seasoning packet, one rotisserie chicken, two cups of water, two cans of shoe peg corn, and two cans of great northern beans. One packet only calls for one can of corn, one can of beans and one pound of chicken, but after a little experimenting, I like it best the way I make it now.

I have been buying the rotisserie chicken at Costco, because that's the best price I've found. I'll buy a couple of them, come home and take all the meat off and stick them in a ziplock bag and freeze them. It comes in so handy when you're in a hurry for dinner, or if you're just feeling lazy and don't want to have to cook! I'll use it in casseroles, or make chicken taco's, or throw it in a big pot of soup, kinda like today! I'm calling one whole rotisserie chicken 20 PPV. The whole recipe was 60 PPV and made about 9 cups, so I'm calling 1 cup 7 PPV.

Then I HAD to have my corn muffins! I can't really remember when or why I started doing this, but for as long as I can remember, I have mixed one box of Jiffy corn muffin mix and one box of Jiffy white cake mix. I put in exactly what each box calls for, and mix them together. I like the sweetness of the cake. Too sweet for some, maybe. Yummy with a little honey drizzled on top! I made these tonight in the mini muffin pans and they were 2 PPV each.

It was kinda delicious.

13 PPV of deliciousness, devoured!

Oooops

I'm not real sure exactly how many points an entire bottle of wine is......but it can't be good. I will say however, Happy Hour last night at my girlfriends house was a lot longer than an HOUR!

I think I'll hit the gym now. :)

Love this tortilla

It's 2 PPV And super tasty! You can wrap just about ANYTHING you'd like in it!

Breakfast burrito!
Peanut butter and banana or add an apple...yum.
How about a quesadilla?
Maybe a chopped apple topped with a little cinnamon.

-
Today I made a wrap with a little hummus, some deli turkey, and some romaine for crunch! I'll eat chips once in a while, but I have been substituting these carrot chips, and they do the job!

Just a whole bunch of crunch!

Smile! It increases your face value!

I found this on Pinterst today, and really thought it was worth sharing! It also reminded just how incredible my life is and how truly blessed I am to have such great family and friends.

Hearty!

I was really in the mood for something warm and yummy and filling! I typically do 3 or 4 egg whites because it increases the protein in my meal and reduces the fat which helps to reduce the Points Plus Value. I believe one egg has 6 grams of protein, and one egg WHITE has 4 grams of protein. So if I chose 4 egg whites, which I typically do, that's an awesome SIXTEEN grams of protein! But today I was really craving that yolk! So I whipped myself up a toasted light English muffin (3), made a WHOLE Egg (2) in the skillet and topped it with 1 T of bacon bits (1) and a slice of Kraft sharp cheddar 2% cheese (1). This was a delicious 7 PPV way to start off my Saturday.

Now for a little housework!

Friday lunch!

It's rainy and cold outside today and I am really craving some warm, yummy goodness! This is what I came up with. I had some frozen black beans, corn and bell peppers. I had some reduced fat Colby jack cheese (Hello! Good on anything!) I had a can of fat free refried beans (I may regret all the beans later, I wasn't thinking clearly), and I had whole wheat tortillas! These are all things I usually have on hand, but I hadn't thrown them all together in a while. I'm so glad I did today. I made myself a really yummy 12 PPV quesadilla! It actually ended up being way too much food, so I just ate half, which works out well since it's Friday and soon I will be headed out the door for HAPPY HOUR!

Treat Yourself!

I have always been a fan of breakfast in bed. My daughter is away at college now, but when she was young, my Mother's Day annual gift was the paper in bed, my favorite bagel and cream cheese from Panera and my favorite latte from Starbuck's, all brought to me on my favorite tray, a little 60's thing I found at a Flea Market. Dang, sounds wonderful! Kinda wish I had that particular breakfast now. But what I have become accustomed to, and really do enjoy, is my 3 PPV Peanut Butter Banana Toast. Every once in a while, I will go ahead and make myself breakfast, put it all on my favorite tray, and crawl back in to bed, which I did today!

Keeping busy!

Some of my toughest days are when I don't have a lot going and I'm home for the day. I can keep myself going from room to room pretty good because I am constantly getting side tracked and end up doing a load of laundry when what I really went in the laundry room for in the first place was to get the toilet paper to stock the bathrooms. Then after throwing in a load of laundry, I realize we are low on detergent, so I go to the kitchen to add it to my list. I see the bananas are on the counter, so I eat one. That make's me thirsty, so I have a nice big glass of ice water. I remember I need to unload the dishwasher, so I do. Now it hits me! I have to pee, during which I realize, THERE'S NO TOILET PAPER! Then I seem to develop a little anxiety, and want to EAT!

Well it is a ridiculous 65 degrees in Kansas City today and it's the 1st of February! So I decide in order to not eat, I have GOT to get out of the house. So I took advantage of the nice weather and the dogs and I went for a long walk! Then they decided to take a nap and I was somehow full of energy! The house is clean, the laundry is done, the bills are paid and the fridge is stocked! What's a girl to do?

I have been thinking long and hard about painting an entire wall in the basement with chalkboard paint. I think it would give the grand kids something to draw on that won't send me yelling and screaming, and I'd have a little fun with it too! I head out to the paint store but make a quick stop at Walmart first for a few things. While browsing I come across the cutest Wall Stickers. I had seen these before, but no patterns that really jumped out and grabbed me. Today was different. I bought the cutest Tree and put it in the Guest Bath. I love it!

Okay, NOW I am going

to the paint store, so I don't eat!

Dinner In a hurry

So I have discovered these great little chicken sausages everywhere now! I picked these up at Trader Joe's. I think tonight's flavor was Spinach Asiago? Toss them in a skillet for about 10 minutes, or throw them on the grill! Dip these babies in a little Dijon and you have a great little 3 PPV deliciousness that taste like it must be a whole DAYS worth of points!

Breakfast...Open Faced!

I like a LOT of food for as few points as possible. This is a great way to get in your morning protein and enjoy a plate full of great tasting food!

I remember as a kid going to Hardee's with my dad just about every Saturday morning for a Bacon Egg and Cheese Biscuit! I would dip each bite in a little bit of ketchup. I don't even want to think about how many WW Points that might be! AAAAHHHHHHH! It does help explain how I became a Weight Watcher member though......

This is my recreation, and I love it!

1 toasted light English muffin (3 PPV)
4 egg whites (1 PPV)
1 slice light cheese (1PPV)
1 T. bacon bits (1 PPV)

I toast my English muffin. Then I put 1/2 cheese slice on each English muffin half. I cocked my egg whites in a small skillet with 1 T. Of bacon bits sprinkled on top. When the eggs are set, I flip my little circle of eggs in half and continue to cook. When my eggs are completely cooked, I cut that in half and place on each muffin half.

Oatmeal Banana Peanut Butter Bar!

I found this tonight on Pinterest and it was DELISH!

Check out the original recipe......but calculate your PPV if you make it like the original recipe says to.

Oatmeal  Banana Peanut Butter Bar

I did change up the recipe a bit to make these a little more point friendly. I substituted Splenda Brown Sugar and Better N Peanut Butter, which I have purchased at Target and at Trader Joes.

This 4x4 square is 4 PPV after I made a few changes.

Burgers and Fries!

It's on the menu at LEAST once a week now!

1 Pound Ground Turkey, 93% fat free, 1 egg and Cavender's Greek Seasoning. I LOVE this seasoning. It's great on popcorn and veggies, but this is one of my favorite places to enjoy it!

I like to assemble my burger, with a slice of cheese and pop it on a whole wheat bun and wrap it in foil while I finish up dinner. This makes the bun soft and just a bit steamed from the heat!

Baked Zucchini Fries

The zucchini fries are a bit of a new find. Mix a little parmesan, some panko bread crumbs, cracked black pepper and a little garlic powder. Dip your zucchini in egg whites, then coat with cheese and bread mixture. Bake for 15 minutes at 425, then flip each one and continue to bake an additional 15 minutes. They are super crisp! I dipped mine in a little light Ranch.

Finished off with a little fruit.

This entire dinner was 11 PPV and I feel like I had great meal of "Burger and Fries"!

Good Choices, Good Mood, Good Day!

This is a great little snack after a workout! It's my Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie. It's a WW Smoothie packet with 1 C cold water, with 1/2 frozen banana, and 2 T. PB2 (This is a peanut butter powder usually found in the health food section of your local grocery store, or Whole Foods?)

I walked the dogs, lifted weights at home, and hopped on the treadmil for 30 minutes. It's been a great productive Monday, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the week!

Gooey and Yummy Cheese Sandwich!

I love a warm sandwich! This tasty little treat is super easy to make and as far as I'm concerned, Restaurant quality! (maybe a little exageration here) I love my light Italian Bread (2 slices, 2 PPV), and I use one serving of deli turkey, and 1 T. of Light Country Crock (1 PPV), 1 slice of cheese (1 PPV), and one wedge of laughing cow cheese (1 PPV). I LOVE the garlic and herb and used that today. My picture doesn't really show the gooeyness of the cheese, but is was soooooo good. This was a 6 PPV Sandwich!

Get those fruits and veggies in to help fill you up, and knowing you're eating healthy, makes you feel GREAT!

Treat yourself and take a few extra minutes to make your plate really look appetizing. If you would do it for company, then do it for yourself. It only takes a little extra time, and you just might eat a little slower and appreciate your meal more!

Now out to walk the dogs!

Protein in the Morning!

When I know I have a busy day ahead, I like to get in as much protein for as few points as possible. I found this Jimmy Dean Turkey sausage and thought I'd give it a try. It's pretty tasty! The serving size says 2/3 C., but I thought 1/3 C. was plenty, and I didn't want too much sodium. 1/3 C. of the sausage was 280 mg of sodium and 1 PPV. I scrambled 4 egg whites (1 PPV), and added 1 laughing cow cheese wedge (also 1 PPV)after everything was cooked, and it gave my yummy breakfast a nice creamy finish!

I like a grapefruit every once in awhile, but they can be such a booger to eat!

This was a great and filling breakfast for only 3 PPV!

Tzatziki Chicken Salad

I LOVE this sauce on just about everything. Dip veggies, or pretzels, or crackers in it! Spread on a whole wheat tortilla and add your favorite fillings for a roll-up!

Today? I mixed 1 T. of Tzatziki sauce (1 PPV) with 4 oz. of rotisserie chicken (3 PPV) and put it on a toasted piece of Lite Italian Bread (1 PPV)! I love to have something crunchy to eat with my sandwiches, so lately I opt for some 0 PPV crunchy veggies. This time I chose red bell pepper. I love the sweetness they have.

The orange gave me a little something sweet for desert and it helps me to avoid the sweet cravings later in the day.

This was great and filling 5 PPV lunch!

So Many Great Tools!

This is a favorite "Snack to Go"! I picked up this little mini blender at WalMart for, I think, 12 bucks! What a DEAL! I certainly use it for my smoothies, but it also comes in handy to puree in small batches for my soups! But this particular use was for a Blueberry Smoothie. A WW packet of Vanilla Smoothie mix, 1 C frozen blueberries, and 1 C of water. Delicious! Another reason I love this little blender, it's fits right in the cup holder in the car!
